Daybreak Films was commissioned by Museum Victoria to create a large scale three screen moving image installation for the new permanent exhibition The Melbourne Story, launching in Melbourne on 19th March, 2008. Weaving a poetic and engaging impression of contemporary Melbourne from 1980 to the present the installation traverses the social, political, creative and cultural changes that we’ve experienced in the city over the past several decades.

The film, produced and co-directed by Natasha Gadd and Rhys Graham, was created with numerous regular Daybreak collaborators including cinematographer Katie Milwright, writer and research Takeshi Oldham and with elegant motion graphics by Daniel Stonehouse and XYZ Studios. The three screen installation also has a 5.1 soundscape designed by Emma Bortignon and Jed Palmer and with a new score by Patrick Robertson, whose music also features in Daybreak projects including Love This Time and Muscle.
