MURUNDAK – SONGS OF FREEDOM was awarded the GRAND PRIX by the international jury of the 9th FIFO – Festival International du Film Documentaire Océanien held from the 6th – 12th of February in Tahiti.

Premio Tiempo de Historia

1 November 2011

*murundak - songs of freedom* was one of only twelve films included in the prestigious Tiempo de Historia section at the 56th Seminci (Semana Internacional de Cine) in Valladolid, Spain. Co-directors Rhys Graham and Natasha Gadd were supported by Film Victoria to attend the festival and were on hand for the gala closing night when *murundak* was given the top prize in the documentary section - Primer Premio de Tiempo de Historia - by the international jury comprised of Pilar Pérez Solano, Laurence Jourdan & Kees Ryninks. They were also awarded a special mention by the international jury for the Cultural Diversity Prize. Festival Time

Throughout October and for the duration of the Melbourne International Arts Festival, Daybreak Films are creating 20 different short documentaries for web and broadcast in partnership with STVDIO, Foxtel's dedicated arts channel. We're happy to be working with a bunch of our favourite people as we rally around to make a film a day for the duration of the Festival. At the bottom of the news posting, we've embedded a handful of the films we've made as we reach the halfway mark of the festival. Many more can be seen on STVDIO's youtube channel.
